A dystopian film series may not be the most apparent viewing option right now, but witnessing a teenage Shailene Woodley fight against her harsh, deceptive society is sometimes just what a self-care night needs. Prior to joining the drama series Big Little Lies, Woodley played Tris in the film versions of Veronica Roth’s YA Divergent trilogy.

Divergent transports us to an alternate Chicago, cut off from the rest of the country, where individuals are divided into factions based on their personality type. Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Woodley) realizes at the age of 16 that she fits equally into numerous factions, making her a Divergent.

She must, however, conceal her true identity and thus chooses to join the Dauntless group, where she must complete a series of trials to prove herself. She discovers a scheme of faction infighting with her instructor and love interest, Four (Theo James), and strives to stop it.

Instead of traveling through each streaming site one by one, here’s how you can watch all three films from the comfort of your own home.

Where To Watch Divergent?

All three Divergent films are available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime for $3.99 and $9.99, respectively. Following Divergent, Insurgent follows up just days later, with Tris, her boyfriend Four, and their friends at the center of the ongoing conflict between the dystopian Chicago factions. But, while they struggle to flee those who want to kill them, a mystery about the walled-off Chicago awaits discovery.

Allegiant, the third film in the trilogy, adapts half of the final novel, moving Tris and her friends outside of Chicago and into the wider world, where they uncover the history of their civilization and face new perils. Originally, a fourth and final film was planned to wrap up the novel adaptation, but after Allegiant bombed, the filmmakers opted to end the plot in a TV series instead.

However, because Woodley was uninterested, it appears unlikely that the franchise will ever be completed, but frustrated fans can look to the novels to learn the ending.
