Following a two-year hiatus, the comic book fantasy series Warrior Nun has returned for its second season on Netflix, with all eight new episodes now available.
The show follows Ava Silva, the titular warrior nun, who is striving to find a means to beat Adriel in season 2 now that she is a member of the Sister Warriors of the OCS.
But now that Season 2 has concluded, and the program will return for a third season, when will it be released, and who from the cast will return?
Is Warrior Nun Season 3 Confirmed?
No, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen – fans had to wait a month between the release of season one on Netflix and the announcement of season two. And, judging by the response on social media, there is a strong desire for more.
“I have 99 problems, and Netflix renewing Warrior Nun for season 3 would solve all of them,” one fan said, while another added, “If y’all are looking for a show to watch, please watch Warrior Nun on Netflix, I’m so desperate for a season 3.”
Simon Barry, the show’s creator, recently told Inverse that he aims to expand the show beyond three seasons, which sounds promising.” With Warrior Nun, I would give it a window because we’re still so early in the process of developing it,” he explained. “Anything between five and seven seasons would be lovely.”
Warrior Nun Season 3 Release Date: When Will It Come?
Since the first time Warrior Nun came out of hell, it’s been over two years, but most of that time was spent making up for lost time due to the pandemic. So, if the show is picked up for a third season, we can probably expect new episodes sooner, hopefully by the beginning of 2024.
And if your faith is strong enough, we might even get a new season before the end of 2023 if your faith is strong enough.
Warrior Nun Season 3 Cast: Who Will Return?
Without Alba Baptista in the major role of Ava Silva, Warrior Nun is Nun-thing, therefore it’s safe to presume she’ll be back for season three. But who will accompany her? The following are the most likely suspects to return:
- Toya Turner as Sister Mary/Shotgun Mary
- Thekla Reuten as Jillian Salvius
- Tristan Ulloa as Father Vincent
- Sylvia De Fanti as Mother Superior
- Lorena Andrea as Sister Lilith
- Kristina Tonteri-Young as Sister Beatrice
Season three will feature all-out war on a celestial scale, so expect some new faces.
Warrior Nun Season 3 Plotline: What Happens Next?
Warrior Nun has a cheeky (ugh!) tendency of finishing each season on a cliffhanger, and season two is no exception.
It turns out that Adriel’s dominion over the planet (boo!) actually helped protect humanity from an even worse threat that his realm is about to unleash.
That means conflict is on the way for everyone’s favorite Warrior Nun, which is troublesome because Ava will also have to deal with whatever is going on with the Halo, as well as Lilith’s unexpected change, in a hypothetical third season.
But we have faith in Ava. She has never led us astray before, and we have faith in creator Simon Barry because of his aforementioned five-seven season plan.

Why Did Toya Turner Leave the Series ‘warrior Nun’? What Unfolded With Shotgun Mary?
At the conclusion of Season 1, Shotgun Mary is surrounded by those under the thrall of the demon Adriel. Mary is “gone” at the beginning of Season 2 and has been no match for Adriel’s demon-possessed followers. The announcement of her death was so sudden that viewers couldn’t help but wonder what actually occurred behind the scenes.
In an interview with Screen Rant, showrunner Simon Davis Barry confirmed that Shotgun Mary was originally intended to return for Season 2. Toya Turner’s departure from the production rendered Mary’s comeback impossible.
“Unfortunately, Toya had to quit the program at the beginning of Season 2 filming for personal reasons,” he stated. We had to modify the show immediately to accommodate that. It was an extremely difficult puzzle. But we figured it out in a way that I believe honors Shotgun Mary’s character and also sets the stage for Season 2’s new characters. I hope it turns out well.
It’s always awkward when something goes awry, right? We did not anticipate this, so we had to make adjustments on the fly.”
It does not appear that Shotgun Mary will return in any capacity, not even with a new actor. “We didn’t want to recast her because I believe the character is too iconic,” Simon stated. “We had to find a way to tie in what had transpired at the end of Season 1 that didn’t feel awkward or tacked on.”
