Will There Be a Season 2 of The Bear?
Chef, it’s going to happen! On July 14, 2021, FX ordered a second season of its runaway restaurant smash. “The Bear has exceeded our wildest creative, critical, and commercial expectations,” said FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier in a press release.
#TheBear on @hulu is a perfect season. As much as I love that show I hope they don’t make a season 2.
…..but if they do…it better be the best goddam show they’ve ever made.
…also I’m calling everyone either chef or cousin from now on. pic.twitter.com/MZC7q3Scw4

The Bear Season 2 Release Date
We don’t know for sure, but it’s probable that The Bear will be released around the same time next year. The Bear has garnered excellent reviews and will very certainly be nominated for an Emmy next year, so they’ll want Season 1 to be the only entry in the window.
The Emmy nomination window for the 2022 program concluded on May 31, 2022, therefore next year’s deadline will most likely be around the same time.
Season 2 would most certainly arrive after June 2023, allowing Season 1 to receive the Emmy nominations it deserves for Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and the show itself.
The Bear Season 2 Cast
Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a James Beard Award-winning chef who worked at “the top restaurant in the world, according to Eater.” He returns to Chicago to oversee The Original Beef of Chicagoland, the restaurant founded by his deceased brother Mikey.
Season 2 should see the return of the majority of the core characters, including:
- Mikey’s best buddy and the shop’s manager, Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, is played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach
- Sydney Adamu, played by Ayo Edebiri, is a Culinary Institute of America chef who accepts a job staging at Original Beef
- Marcus, the restaurant’s baker, is played by Lionel Boyce
- Tina, played by Liza Colón-Zayas, is a cook
- Ebraheim, played by Edwin Lee Gibson, is a cook
- Cicero, Carmy, and Mikey’s uncle are played by Oliver Platt
- Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Carmy and Mikey’s sister, is played by Abby Elliott
- Pete, Sugar’s husband, is played by Chris Witaske
- Neil Fak, Richie’s pal, and fixer is played by Matty Matheson
- Michael “Mikey” Berzatto, Carmy and Sugar’s brother, is played by Jon Bernthal
Season 1 also had a few cameos, most notably Joel McHale as Carmy’s former executive chef boss and Molly Ringwald as a meeting moderator for Al-Anon. They may or may not return in Season 2 of The Bear.
Season 2 will almost certainly introduce some new characters. More of Carmy’s relatives or fine dining restaurant coworkers may appear in the present or in flashbacks. The episode may reveal Richie, Sydney, or Marcus’s family members.
The Bear Season 2 Plot
Season 1 concluded with Carmy’s restaurant being renamed The Bear from The Original Beef of Chicagoland. The second season is scheduled to follow Carmy and the crew in their endeavor to revitalize and rebrand the establishment. The chef is particularly stressed because he is exclusively responsible for devising new menus, decor, and services.
Throughout Season 1, we learn about Carmy’s job as an employee at both fine dining facilities and run-down diners. Being thrust into the role of a business owner can be intimidating for anyone, especially if they have no prior experience.
The weight of the world is on his shoulders as he attempts to show his team, family, and himself that he can succeed in his next project. It will be interesting to see where Carmy takes his vision while still honoring his brother’s initial plan.
In a podcast interview with Radio Cherry Bombe, Jeremy Allen White alluded to the possibility of stand-alone episodes for a handful of the characters in the second season. While this path may provide unique perspectives on the dynamics of the culinary family, Storer is brimming with possibility after closing Season 1 on a high note that opens up new creative possibilities.
The director leaves the spectator wondering, “What does Carmy intend to do with his brother’s fortune?” and it’s clear that this is the overarching question that will ultimately guide Carmy’s future experiences in the series. Expect a restaurant makeover and increased conflict between staff and family members, mixed with a few mental breakdowns.
