Lady Gaga admits feeling ugly, lonely and insecure. The singer has opened up, for the very first time about her feelings to the LA Times.
The ‘Bad Romance’ singer had been busy shooting a movie with co star and the director of their upcoming film, Bradley Cooper. In the movie Gaga plays the roll of a girl named Ally who is struggling with her music career. Ally is a singer and a songwriter but feels uncomfortable in playing her songs. Seasoned musician Jackson Maine (played by Bradley Cooper) recognizes Ally’s talent and cajoles her into coming in the spotlight. Both of them fall in love with each other but the personal side of their relationship keeps on breaking down because Jackson has to fight an ongoing battle with his own internal demons as he is addicted to alcohol and drugs while Ally has to fight her insecurities.
During a scene in the film, Lady Gaga has a line where she talks about the criticism she has been getting on her looks, “Almost every single person have told me that they liked the way I sounded but they didn’t like the way I look.”
Which pretty much explains the bizarre outfits of the pop star throughout the history. She had been basically trying to cover her insecurities.
One thing the critics have noticed that in the trailer, how different Lady Gaga looks with her dark brown hair and no make up face at all. According to Gaga, it was exactly how she had to audition. The singer said, “When my character talks about how ugly she feels, that was real….I’m so insecure. I like to preach but I don’t always practice what I preach.”
She also admitted having a break down and had to repeat her scripted lines over and over again. She told the LA Times that when Bradley asked her if she was okay off set, she just started crying.
The singer also said, “It’s very lonely being a performer. There’s a certain loneliness that I feel, anyway-that I’m the only one that does what I do. So, it feels like no one understands…”
When asked what makes her feel beautiful, Gaga gave the answer which will thrill her fans, “To be honest, I think what makes me beautiful is when I see happiness in my fans. When I see or hear from them that the music that I’ve made has changed their life in some way, that’s what makes me feel beautiful…”
The movie had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 31, 2018.
The film will be released in most of Europe, including the UK, and the USA on October 5, 2018. Those in Canada will have a chance to see it at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2018, and fans in Japan are the last to get the movie-musical, with a release date of December 21, 2018.
