In his defense, Junaid Safdar said that the protesters had spitted on him and tried to attack him outside their apartments.

Official reports state that Junaid was arrested and handcuffed by the London police and shifted to Charing Cross Police Station for questioning.

It is worth mentioning that the arrest came only hours after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz left for Heathrow Airport to board a flight to Pakistan.

Confirming the news of her son’s arrest, Maryam tweeted, “PTI workers stationed outside London flat shouted ‘son of a bitch’ every time they saw Junaid. Anyone would have reacted.”
