Afridi donates Rs15 lakhs to Diamer-Bhasha, Mohmand dams fund

KARACHI, Pakistan: Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Shahid Afridi is set to donate Rs15 lakh (Rs.1.5 million) to the special find set up for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Boom Boom Afridi announced the donation in a tweet, saying that he would be committing Rs5 lakhs for his side and Rs10 lakhs from his foundation Shahid Afridi Foundation to the special fund set up by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar.

He also lauded CJP’s efforts for setting up the special fund and promised to do his part for the country.

Justice Nisar himself has donated Rs10 lakh (Rs1 million) to the special fund. The CJP’s donation was the first contribution to the said account, according to a press release on the Supreme Court’s website dated July 5, 2018.

“Commendable effort by Army & #CJP on the much needed act of water preservation, through building of dams. I pledge 5 lakh & 10 lakh from @SAFoundationN, to deliver on my return. Let’s all do our bit for Pakistan to pave the way for future generations #HopeNotOut @OfficialDGISPR,” he tweeted.
