LONDON, UK: The conviction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield case has thrown him in a bind, not only back home, but also in London where he is currently staying.

More than a dozen protesters gathered outside Mr. Sharif’s Avenfield apartments and tried to break into the flat in the early hours of Sunday, only to be tackled by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader’s personal security. After a heated argument between the two sides, the protesters left.

Take a quick look: “I promise that I will continue this struggle until Pakistanis are free of chains,” says Nawaz

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, making rounds on Facebook and Twitter.

One of the protesters was filmed kicked the door of the flat shortly after Mr. Nawaz Sharif entered through it. One incensed protester also threw a shopping cart outside the apartment gate, followed by exchange of abuses between Sharif’s security officers and the protesting man.

More security was deployed after the incident outside Mr. Sharif’s flats.
